Connectors in English and How to Use Them

Connectors, also known as linking words, are used to join words, phrases, or clauses. They improve the flow and clarity of your writing. Common connectors include: and, but, because, although, and however.

Types of Connectors

• Addition: and, also, moreover, furthermore
• Contrast: but, however, although, even though
• Cause/Effect: because, so, therefore, as a result
• Time: when, while, before, after
• Condition: if, unless, in case
